Here's a Beef Pulao recipe for you:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes and drained
- 3 tablespoons oil or ghee (clarified butter)
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- Whole spices: 2-3 cloves, 2-3 green cardamom pods, 1-2 bay leaves, 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water or beef broth
- Chopped cilantro and mint leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1. Heat oil or ghee in a large pot or pressure cooker over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove half of the fried onions and set them aside for garnishing.
2. Add the whole spices (cloves, cardamom pods, bay leaves, cinnamon stick) and cumin seeds to the pot. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
3. Add ginger paste and garlic paste to the pot. Sauté for another minute.
4. Add the beef pieces and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they start to brown.
5. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, ground coriander, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
6. Add the soaked and drained rice to the pot. Gently sauté the rice and meat with the spices for 2-3 minutes to coat the rice with the flavors.
7. Pour in the water or beef broth and add more salt if needed. Bring the mixture to a boil.
8. If using a pressure cooker: Cover the pressure cooker with its lid and cook on low pressure for about 10-12 minutes. Turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.
9. If using a regular pot: Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
10. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it gently with a fork. Garnish with the reserved fried onions, chopped cilantro, and mint leaves.
11. Serve the Beef Pulao hot with raita (yogurt dip) or a side salad.
Enjoy your flavorful Beef Pulao! You can adjust the spices and ingredients to suit your taste preferences.
